The sport association “Trekking Someggiato Santa Maria Navarrese” offers some routes completely surrounded by nature in good company of some sweet donkeys, choosing between a few- hour walk or real trekkings on the ancient mule tracks, along itineraries of historical and naturalistic interest.
Donkeys used to be essential travelling companions for the coal burners during the last century and for the shepherds nowadays; with their typical slow and safe pace they make the hikings suitable for everyone, especially kids!
Walking with a donkey will let you experience a slower way of living life, typical of the past and long forgotten. Moreover, during the trekking these friendly animals will help you carry backpacks and whatever might be necessary for the journey doing all the work for us; a delicious picnic lunch with local products will make the walk even more enjoyable.

Calm, cuteness, patience and empathy are the qualities of this animal. Its slow and steady rhythm allows us to walk without getting too tired and will give you the time to observe the landscape around you while listening to the interesting stories and anecdotes of the shepherds life, part of our past but still present and alive.
