Trekking Margine Mitico Selvaggio
Our trekking itineraries in Sardinia are located in the Supramonte di Baunei, in the far north of Ogliastra, the historical region of central-eastern Sardinia, which separates Barbagia from the sea.
Common opinion is that ‘Ogliastra’ takes its name from the wild olive tree ‘Oleastru’; in reality, the name derives from a large pyramid-shaped rock, ‘Agugliastra’ (or ‘Sa Pedra Longa’), a thin limestone pinnacle that emerges from the sea for 128 metres, a few kilometres north of Santa Maria Navarrese, a pretty seaside village.
The itineraries are situated entirely in the area around Baunei, a mountain village about 480 metres above sea level, dominating the Capo Bellavista promontory, where Arbatax rises with its harbour protected by a Spanish tower and its red porphyry cliffs of great chromatic effect.
The excursions we offer are:
Standard Trekking The excursion, is divided into six stages, starting at “Genna Sarbene”, near Urzulei, about 40 km south of Dorgali, and ending at “Pedra Longa”, the final destination of our excursion. Trekking Selvaggio Blu The ‘Selvaggio Blu’, the most challenging trek in Sardinia and Italy, but also because of this, the most original and beautiful excursion. Trekking in the Olives of Supramonte Trekking to discover the Supramonte of Baunei and the sheepfolds, ancient dwellings of Sardinian shepherds. CAI guide Giampietro Carta will accompany you along these itineraries, between sea and mountain, to introduce you to the wildest Sardinia, but for this very reason also the most beautiful.
